IMAP Copy

.

What is IMAP for?

IMAP Copy is used to copy emails from account A (source) to account B (destination).

You will need to:
1. Enter the requested information on the old email account (source) you wish to transfer.
2. Enter the requested information on the new email account (destination) you wish to transfer to.
3. Close the page once the synchronisation has been validated. Your emails will be copied to the new account. This could take several hours.

You can access it directly from the following address:
http://webmail.ovh.co.uk/en/imapcopy/
.

IMAP Copy enables you to transfer external email accounts to an OVH email account.

We offer the following email service providers by default:
  • Gmail
  • Hotmail
  • Yahoo
  • Share Hosting OVH

If your email service provider is not in the list, select "Other".

In our example, we will transfer our Shared Hosting OVH account to our Exchange 2013 account.

Here we select "Share Hosting OVH" as Email Source.

Service options

IMAP Copy is primarily designed to transfer both OVH email accounts or external email accounts to an OVH account (Exchange or Shared Hosting).
However, in Exchange 2013, the copy of the destination account opens in external servers, not in OVH.

We offer the following email service providers by default:
  • Exchange 25GB
  • Exchange Corporate
  • Exchange Reseller
  • Shared Hosting OVH

If your email service provider is not in the list, select "Other".

Synchronisation and statuses

.

Synchronisation

Once the connection to the destination email has been established and completed, the Synchronise button appears.

Click on this button to transfer the copy of account A (source) to account B (destination).

In our case, we will transfer all emails from the support@ovh.net account to the Exchange 2013 account exchange@ovh.net.

The following message will appear:
Your account is being synchronised. Check the status at any time by filling out the fields in the form below.
As this is an IMAP-type synchronisation, all folders, empty or not, in the source email account that do not exist in the destination email account will be created.
.

Synchronisation - Errors

Once the synchronisation has started, you may get an error message detailing firstly the general error and secondly the specific error (see screenshot):

An error occurred during synchronisation. This account already exists.

In our example, we've clicked the Sync button a second time. We get the message: A synchronisation task for this account already exists. Therefore, another synchronisation task will not be carried out.
.

Synchronisation - Finalisation

Once synchronisation is complete, an email detailing the operation will be sent to the destination email account:

This email is shown in the screenshot.
.

Find out the synchronisation status

You can find out the synchronisation status of your accounts at any time by entering the source email address into the correct field and then clicking send.

In our case, when we checked the status, the synchronisation was complete and the following message appeared: The synchronisation of your accounts is complete.

If there is a high volume of emails to copy, the following message will appear: Synchronisation has not yet started. Please wait.
