The configuration is performed on Thunderbird version 24.2.0.

Configuring Thunderbird

Part 1: Getting started

To get started, open the "Thunderbird" application installed on your computer.

This screen will appear if you haven't configured any email accounts.

To create a new email account, click on the "Email" icon to continue.

To continue installing the email account, select "Skip this step and use my existing email".

Part 3: Creating account

Please enter the following information:

"Your name": Enter the name you wish to be displayed.

"Email": Your full email address.

"Password": The password configured in the Control Panel.

"Remember password": You must select this option.

You have two possible configuration options: IMAP or POP3.

In our example, we are configuring an IMAP account. Please see the end of this guide for instructions to configure a POP3 account.

Thunderbird also gives you the option to configure manually. You can find the instructions in the "Manual Setup" section of our guide.

Click "Done" to finalise the installation.

Part 4: Finalisation

Your email address is has been automatically added and is functional.

To see the various account settings, click on the email address and select "View settings for this account".

Here you will find general information about your email account.

You can add an email signature or define another email address for recipients to respond to.

You can also view and edit the SMTP server used by the email account.

Incoming server settings

In this window, you will find information about the incoming mail server.

You can schedule emails collection times, or management policy on mail deletion.

Copies & folders

Here you will find different settings for your files, sending messages and archives.

Synchronisation and storage

Here you can choose how to synchronise you mail and choose whether to delete your messages or not.

SMTP outgoing server settings

Here you can add or modify the software configured on your SMTP servers.

Once you have selected your SMTP server, click "Edit" .

You will see various editable settings.

Configuration in POP

This is the information you need to configure a POP email account on an iPhone.

Configure POP email with secure SSL enabled or disabled:

Email address: Your full OVH email address
Password: The password configured in the [url= "https://www.ovh.co.uk/managerv3/"][blue]Control Panel[/blue][/url].
Username: Your full OVH email address
Incoming server:SSL0.OVH.NET
Incoming server port:995 or 110
Outgoing server: Server for sending mail: SSL0.OVH.NET
Outgoing server port:465 ou 587

Ports 110 and 587 are for disabled SSL security.
Ports 995 and 465 are for activated SSL security.

Configuration in IMAP

This is the information you need to configure an IMAP/b] email account on an iPhone.

Configure IMAP email with secure SSL enabled or disabled:

Email address: Your full email address.
Password: The password configured in the [url= "https://www.ovh.co.uk/managerv3/"]Control Panel[/url].
Username: Your full email address.
Incoming server:SSL0.OVH.NET
Incoming server port:993 or 143
Outgoing server: Server for sending mail: ssl0.ovh.net
Outgoing server port:465 ou 587

Ports 110 and 587 are for disabled SSL security.
Ports 995 and 465 are for activated SSL security.
